              The Executive Chairman of the Electrical Interconnection Authority of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Eng. Ahmed Ali Al Ibrahim, said in a meeting held Tuesday at the headquarters of Asharqia Main Chamber October 3 that the electrical connection represents energy security for the Gulf countries.     Al Ibrahim said that the estimates of the savings achieved by the Gulf electrical connection to the member to 404 million dollars in 2016, while 390 million dollars during the year 2015, pointing out that the authority is keen to be the capacity of the electric linkage to meet the needs of members, New sources of energy efficiency and sustainability, by exploiting opportunities for connectivity with neighboring regions and future linkages with Europe, Africa and Asia.
    Al Ibrahim explained the benefits of the electrical connection process, indicating that it reduces rotary reserves for each of the member countries. It also improves the reliability of these countries on the electric power systems economically. It also provides the basis for the exchange and trade of electric energy among the member countries Supporting the reliability of electricity supply and other capacity development in the face of loss of emergency obstetric capacity.
    "Electric interconnection between the Gulf countries contributed significantly to the preservation of the environment by reducing carbon and thermal emissions," he said.
    He explained that the authority aims in the future to establish a mutual Gulf market for energy trade, because of the economic benefits of nearly $ 1 billion annually to the Gulf members, and the basis for later stages to benefit from the neighboring electricity markets and global markets after the completion of the expansion of the linkage.
    At the end of the meeting, the Secretary General of Asharqia Chamber, Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al Wabel, presented a memorial shield to the Executive Chairman of the Gulf Electricity Interconnection Authority, Ahmed bin Ali Al Ibrahim.
